Members See Success in Orlando

Posted on 27 February 2012

In early December 2011, the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) led a trade mission to the largest motor racing and performance trade show in the world – the 24th annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show (PRI). Twenty member companies exhibited on the National Australian Pavilion, which was the largest international pavilion at PRI for the second year in a row, spanning 360sqm.

When asked about the success of this mission, AAAA Senior Manager – Government Relations and International, Ben Bartlett stated, “Whilst it is still early to gauge direct sales generated from the show, initial reports are extremely strong, with all exhibitors expecting to see their business grow as a direct result of the mission.”  Mr Bartlett went on to say, “PRI is a vitally important show for Australian companies to participate in, with over 38,000 buyers from 70 different countries in attendance.”  In 2011, in addition to the US domestic market, buyers from emerging performance markets such as the Middle East, Russia and Asia were on site.

With strong supported from both the Victorian and New South Wales State Governments, all companies involved were extremely pleased with the outcome and the overall impression was extremely positive. A number of companies were participating in follow up meetings and visits throughout the US in the days and weeks following PRI.

Graham Scudamore-Smith, the managing director of SuperPro said “The Australian contingent at PRI has become a destination for many buyers. The comments are always about the quality and presentation of the products, and more importantly we are getting results due to that impact”.

“It was a very strong show,” said Steve Lewis, PRI Trade Show Producer. “We had three big exhibit days with substantial buying in all categories and exhibitors writing orders well into the afternoon. More important than it being a good week for PRI, it was a really good week for the racing industry. What was going on that building for those three days will affect people at races tracks and racing businesses around the world”.
